this article will describe my short stay at a Hospital in Colombo Sri Lanka due to dengue fever for few days.
Story begins from a Tuesday. Took the train from nawinnna station to go to maradana where my office located. As usual managed to just get inside the footboard. Once got off from the train started walking to the office as its walking distance. While tacking first sign appeared, that is i felt that i am having trouble walking fast. So i slowly walked to the office.
At the office felt cooler than other days, felt both legs were hurting unusually. Few hours later realized i am about to get ill. So i went home early to have a rest.
Once at the home as expected i felt ill, it was high temperature. Headache i could not hold. Next day went to see a doctor near home in maharagama. Had a blood test and doctor described its due to high flame and prescribed medicine will solve all the problems. Tried the medicine for next two days but no luck.
On Friday decided to go and admit in to a hospital. I decided to admit in a private hospital as i am covered with a health cover provided by my working place. I phoned all most all the main private hospitals in colombo city. Surprisingly none of them had vacant rooms! The reason was spreading virus influenza diseases. Finally found rooms located only at sri jayawardanapura hospital thalawathugoda. And then wanted to confirm with insurance company regarding claims, so phoned the hotline and response was call in working hours. Forget about it get going. ..
Went around 7.30 to the hospital. met the reception and explained situation, and she directed somewhere we couldn't read properly. So went blindly and after going and talking to few people finaly found a lady from hospital who knows everything.
Paid 150rs and channelled a doctor, met her and explained the situation and requested me to admit as my fewer is over three days. Doctor was not happy to do that, she requested me to go back and rest. But my mother wanted to put me in the hospital. so the doctor with a unhappy face with a special note saying admission is done due to patients request.
Now doctor have the doctor approval. Next is admission. Now we are bit familiar with hospital structure. We went straight to admissions. Atmosphere here was good, air conditioner was running and cool air was flowing inside. The place was bit crowded, no body at reception, few standing near reception but they seems to be waiting for someone else. We passed them and continued then we saw a girl is on a bed with artifisiol breathing mask. Just next to her few ladies with uniforms were busy with their tasks. Met one of her and they decided to do the admission as fewer was having for long.
